Combo Box

Can a combo box be set up where on the drop down list there are two columns
and the second column's value is stored in the text when selected?

I've set column count to 2 and bound column to 2 but the first column's
value is the one displayed in the textbox on selection...???

Set the Column Widths property to: 0", 1" (or whatever width works best).

Will I still be able to see the column 1 values in the drop down list?

No. In it's unexpanded state a combo box will only display the first
visible column. You could change the order of the fields in your combo
box row source query to do what you want.
