Combo box required

Hi all, I have a question that I might just be missing a simple answer to...

I have a form on which is a combo box. I have a need for this combo box to
be used to select a person from a list. Is there a way to make sure it is
selected so that a person entering data can not leave the record if it is not
selected?

I need this to be a whole-record catch rather than an event on the combo box
itself because some of the people using the form don't use tabs and will
click on the boxes they want to fill out, so they may never click on the
combo box at all.

I looked for a "required" option on the properties of the combo box, but
didn't see it. Am I missing something, or is this not an option due to the
nature of the beast?

Thank you to anyone who has, who is, and who continues to help all of us
seekers of information. You are doing a wonderful service!

Use the *forms* Before Update event to trap for this. As an example;

Private Sub Form_BeforeUpdate (Cancel As Integer)

If nz(Me![YourComboBox],0)=0 Then
MsgBox "Please make a selection in the combo box"
Cancel = True
End If

End Sub
