Hello.
I'm trying to put a new computer with xp sp2 to use in our lab.
The primary task for this computer is to be part of a
distributed application using DCOM.
I have installed everything and also tried the application
and seen it work.
Then under unknown circomstances the the COM + catalog carshes
and it's no longer possible to administer the DCOM apps.
I have searched the net and found some knowledge bases
that describes how to repair the COM+ catalog but none
of these work.
(rename clbcatq.dll to ~clbcatq.dll reboot ...)
I also try to do a full repair installation but after 10-20 minutes
i get this message:

Sub-component COM+ raised an exception while processing the
OC_COMPLETE_INSTALLATION
setup message d:\nt\com1x\src\complussetup\comsetup\ccompluscore.cpp
[line 565]
Error code: 0x800040206
An unexpected internal error was detected
The COM+ event classes could not be registered.

I have already done a full re-installation once and i would like
to be able to avoid this problem.

When i take a look in the eventlog i see among other errors
this:
The COM+ Event system detected a bad return code during its internal
processing. HRESULT was 80070005 from line 44 of
d:\qxp_slp\com\com1x\src\events\tier1\eventsystemobj.cpp
Please contact MS

Another one is
The COM+ Event System detected a bad return code during its internal
processing. HRESULT was 80070005 from line 4280 of
d:\qxp_slp\com\com1x\src\events\tier1\agent.cpp. Please contact Microsoft
Product Support Services to report this error.

I try to push the button under this message but it says that i have to start
the
Help and support service.
So i try to start this service and it says
error 1083: The executable program that this service is configured to run in
does not
implement the service.

What to do?
Erik

To Logon as Default Administrator on Pro Edition, from Welcome screen, press
Ctrl-Alt-Delete, Twice , type "Administrator" and use a blank password (on
Home edition - boot to Safe mode - F8 on restart , same logon)

(also, in pro edition)
Go to Start/Run, and type : GPEDIT.MSC Local Computer Policy> Computer
Configuration> Windows Settings> Security Settings> Local Policies> Security
Options> System Objects: Default owner for objects created by members of the
Administrators Group. Set this to "Administrators group" instead of "Object
Creator".

(then)
Run the install.
