columns in sub report

I have a report and the main report covers the entire width of the page. I
have a small sub report located at the bottom of the page and I am trying to
get it to print in 3 columns. I have the sub report page setup so that it
prints in 3 columns and it works correctly when opened by itself. When it is
in the bottom of the main report it comes up as one column?

Any ideas on how to fix it or work around it?

This is a known bug associated with columns in 'down then across' format in
subreports. Columns in 'across then down' should work fine however.
