Columnar subreport?

I have a main report that describes an event, and a
subreport that lists the attendance. Sometimes the list
of attendees does not fit onto a page. I have tried to
make the subreport columnar, which works well enough when
I am working with the subreport alone (i.e. when I open it
directly from the database window), but does not work that
way in conjunction with the main report.
Alternatively, I could accept the subreport spilling onto
a new page. Or maybe there are other suggestions for the
infrequent occasions when the subreport contains many
names.

Make sure you set your subreport columns to go across then down.

Thanks, that solves the problem. I wish there was a way
of going down, then across, but since each name and date
comes from a different record, it seems there is no easy
way of letting the subreport grow only until it reaches a
certain size (i.e. at the bottom of the page). But that
is aesthetic nitpicking. Problem solved.
