Column Headings In Excel

No. they may be only numerals or letters. Set in Tools>Options>General tab>
check or uncheck R1C1 Reference Style.

No, you can't change the column headings in Excel. The next best
thing is to place your column labels in row 1 and Freeze Panes to
keep row 1 from scrolling.
 
If you do this, you can then "hide" the column headings. Tools, Options,
De-select Row and Column Headings on the View tab.
