How do I change the gradient color which runs across the
whole desktop to a solid color??
What I am trying to change is the very top bar that has a
gradient.
When viewing full screen photos for example, the color
runs from a rich color on the right side, to a faded
color on the left.
Hope someone knows what I'm talking about.
I have XP.
Thanks
Bev

Right click on the desktop>>Properties>>Apperance>>Advanced..

Select Active Window and Inactive Window. You can now change the two colors
used.

The gradient is not a feature that you can change via the display settings.
I find that it is less annoying, however, if the color is changed to a
custom shade of grey.

Yes it is something you can change. (But only if you are using the
Classic style) If you are using the XP Style you won't have a
gradient in the first place so it is a non-issue then.

Do tell us how!

You have to have it set to classic mode to even get a gradient.

If you have it set to classic mode then simply go to Control
Panel/Display/Appearance/Advanced
Highlight the Active Ttile Bar listing and then change the colors.

If you want a single color with no gradient then simply set color 1
and color 2 to the same color.

Again though if using the XP style then you wont even have a gradient
in the first place.

Thanks, Les, that was easy. I find it amusing that there are infinite ways
to adjust such a minor part of Windows. I mean, if you give folks the
ability to "mix" their own custom colors for 19 different aspects of the
GUI, some will use this feature, but I would neither mourn nor notice the
absence of this feature. It's kind of like the color of the carpeting in the
trunk of my car: I don't give it much conscious attention.
