I am looking for the exact color of I.E.'s default toolbar background.

I found some I.E. toolbar specific colors on an MSN page somewhere. They are
not codes, but strange names. The closest I seem to get is a color called
"buttonface". There is a problem though with a color that maybe is the
correct one to choose, but my son's computer & mine show it differently. The
color is simply called "menu". But my computer shows it as almost white,
while his computer shows it as almost matching the color buttonface. Any
thoughts on this as to why the color displays differently?

Also, on both of our computers, more-so mine it seems, the I.E. toolbar seems
to start out a true light-grayish color on the left, and gradually turn a
light-grayish-with-peach tones by the time it gets over to the right, but
still very close in color from one end to the other... But is this a optical
illusion, or is it made to be that way?

I won't hold my breath for an answer...

On mine, using the default style and color scheme settings, the bar has
multiple gradients. The UL corner is #F3F4F7 while the LL corner is #ECEBE3.
The UR corner is #EFEBDA and the LR corner is #E7E2CC. Note that I was
fairly careful to stay out of the shaded areas which are used to give the 3D
effect. Note that the colors that appear are all adjustable using the
windows control panel "display properties" > "appearance" > "advanced".

I don't know if this is the solution you're looking for.. and if it
is, it's a round about way of getting it

Take a screen shot of whatever colours (yes, you spelt colour
incorrectly ;-) you're looking for and paste it into Paint Shop Pro
(or something equivalent). PSP lets you use a 'colour dropper' tool to
tell you what the RGB value is of whatever colour you hold the mouse
over. You can also get the Hex codes from this if you need them...

You can even calculate them using the calculator that came with XP. In
scientific mode, enter in the decimal value of whatever RGB value you
have and convert that to Hex. For example, If I have Red, Green, and
Blue Turned on fully, each of their RGB values are 255. Every time I
convert 255 to Hex, I get FF. String the 3 double FF's together, and
you get FFFFFF, which is Hex for white.

Let me know if this was the solution you were lookin for, or if I'm
completely off the mark..
