color intrepretation

Why is it that computers, other than mine, intrepret the color of the page I
built differently? I don't recall ever having this problem before when
building other sites.

32 bit color is different from 16 bit color, and different video cards, drivers and monitor all show
colors differently. You have no control over this. The best I have found it to design in 16 bit
color, not 32 bit.

It seem that 16 bit color reproduce truer colors in 32 bit or 8 bit (1998-9 days) video systems,
then 32 bit on a 16 bit or 8 bit video system. So since them I have just stayed with 16 bit.

I am running NVIDA GeForce4 MX4000 with a 17 inch flat panel LCD at 16 bit 1280 x 1024 with no
problems.

how are those LCD's for graphics work? This old crt is about shot and so are my eyes from looking at it...been thinking of getting a 19" LCD - maybe a BenQ or LG ??

I already have a Radeon 9200se card...just need a new monitor.

Setting your monitor's gamma will help...it will also drive you looney trying to set it correctly.

They are sharper with text than graphic, and fuzzy if not view directly head on. Also most have a
fixed/optimal resolution. I chose CTX S760, 17" 1280 x 1024, 3 Yr Warranty and the price was right,
with no rebate, as it met the min. requirement of a good LCD monitor based on an article I read on
PC World for Image Contrast Ratio of 450:1, Image Max H-View and V-View Angle of 160 degrees

I love mine, Rob.

I replaced a 19" Trinitron with an 18" Dell, and it was so much sharper, I
was easily able to tolerate the 1280x1024 text (which I could not do on the
Sony). Then I replaced the 18" (or subordinated it) with a 19" NEC. I'm
loving it big time....

Two monitors just rocks. And I have no complaints about the 32bit color or
fuzzy graphics.

cool.

i think i'll go winda-shopping online today.

the gamma on this crt is so wacked i cant work on it anymore and my eyes feel like i've been hanging out at Three Mile Island.

LOL.

I was driving from Philadelphia to Hershey the morning of Three Mile Island.
I remember the helicopters overhead and the State Pols whizzing past.
Listening to it all unfold on the radio was a bit scary to say the least....

It was pretty scarey wasn't it?

You were closer than I, but I remember thinkin'...hmmm; which way is the wind blowing???? - seriously - I was packin up my Triumph Spitfire, ready to make a run for it.

How long since you degaussed it??
With the machine up and running, turn the monitor off for about 10 seconds and then turn it back on.

You will definitely "hear" it degauss. ( and see it too )

I'm impressed. Mine's a Dell. ( valentines day present )
Optimum resolution is 1024 by 768, but I run it at 800 by 600 and it's just fine.
Graphics / images display awesomely, and the color seems a little "richer" if that's the right word,
than the 17 inch behemoth CRT it replaced. especially when working in code view in FP or VS. The
tag colors are much more "vibrant."

Low quality graphics however, are more distinguishable as "low quality."

ah..I degauss every coupla weeks. Nah this baby's about shot, it's an old Amptron CS19...it's got this waavy graavy vertical line that swoops down the center of the screen and I get flashes of green tinge when I click on hyperlinks sometimes. I think it's time it retire it
