color display

hi i was just wondering y is it that whenever i change my

color settings my quicklaunch, my taskbar and my desktop

icons all look as though they are 256 color but when i open

a picture or other pictures they r all in high resolution

such as high color format...can u plz help me out thank u
 
R-click on the desktop and select Properties and then Effects, place
check in Show Icons all possible colors
