I purchased outlook because I was told the color on the color coding from the
desktop would sync to my ipod touch. Still the same old grey calendar on the
ipod touch. What can I do?

Who told you that? Outlook doesn't really care what the iPod does, so
you would have to check with the folks who wrote the iPod sync software.
