color categorization

I have many calendars for various purposes. Also I am a delegate for my boss
and run her calendar. I seem to be finding that I can only have one set of
categories and they must apply to all of the calendars. Is this true? Or is
there a way to set up some categories to apply to one specific calendar only.
Thanks a lot.

There is on category list and its available to all items within the mailbox.
you can certainly create categories that you use only on specific calendars.
(I'd probably code them, maybe using categoryname_initials (or last name)
format for the category.)

To further clarify, my problem is that 25 categories is not enough for all
the different calendars I use. Am I correct that if I assign a category name
to a color and use it on one calendar, I can't assign a different category
name to that same color on a different calendar... correct? This is what I am
experiencing. To me this means I have a limit of 25 colors/categories,
period... not 25 fresh ones for each calendar. Am I missing something, or is
this the limitation of the software?

No, you can reuse colors as needed. That's part of the power of color
categories - you can use colors to tie several categories together. For
example, all outside appointments use the red color but are assigned
categories based on who they are with. You know from looking at the calendar
that they are all outside appointments because they are colored red.

I have 98 categories (assuming I counted correctly).

Additionally to Diane, if you look at the calendar of your boss as a
delegate you should see her categories and colors. For all of the other
calendars (yours and public folders) you see your categories.

Here are some more nice tricks for how to sort and group categories:

There is not a limit of 25 color categories - you can have more than 98
(that's how many I have). There are issues with creating new categories in
other users mailboxes and this could be what is causing your problems.
