Color Calibration for Monitors

is there a calibration tool for the Monitor (LCD, notebook...) in freeware.
I know there is ColorPlus of ColorVision but to pay about 119 $ for a tool
being used only once...
The vision of my photos by the screen is maybe correct and in accordance
with the printer, but just to be sure..

a manual procedure is described there. But I don't know how perfectly
a LCD monitor can be calibrated at all. Could you please communicate
your results?
