Collapsible menus TURNING OFF

Office XP, PowerPoint 2002 V10

When I click on a menu, say the File menu, a small (collapsed) menu
appears with some of the options 'collapsed' so I have to hover over (or
click the) 'expand' option at the bottom.

Is there a way to turn this 'FEATURE' off as most of the time the
options I want are in the hidden bit of the menu?

Also can this FEATURE be turned off in WORD 2002 V10.
