Collapsable areas

Hey,

I have to do a presentation end of this week, and I would like to work
with collapsable/expandable areas in a table.
Is there a way to use such areas in Excel?
If yes, how should I proceed?

Many thanks for your help,

Angelika

Look on the Data menu, Group and Outline option. It's fairly intuitive
once you start playing around with it a bit. It will give you the
ability to group rows (or columns) which can be expanded and
contracted individually, or by grouping level.

The online help topic "About Outlining A Worksheet" in Excel 2002 has
more on this.

Hi Angelika,

There are several ways you can do this. You can make selected area
vertically or horisontally collapsable/expandable. To vertically
collaps/expand areas choose desired Rows and to horisontally choose Columns.

Select rows (example rows 3:6)
From menu choose command Data-Group And Outline->Group...
You can select many areas like this to be collapsable and you can also leave
already collapsed areas inside another groupping. That way you can add
different levels to a grouping.
While the grouping is enabled, in the upper left corner right next to cell
A1 you can also see buttons 1 and 2 and maybe more depending on the amount
of levels you have groupped. By clicking them you can show and hide details
for all groups, rows or columns.
To collaps/expand only one area click + or - sign in the left margin.
To remove grouping select all rows in the groupped area and choose command
from menu Data-Group And Outline->Ungroup...

And one more way to get those outlining symbols that might be useful if you want
subtotals per category, is to use Data|subtotal.
