ColHdgs=Years show up as series not as legend labels

We're unable to generate a usable chart from our table with year
(numeric values) as the column headings and numerical values as th
data series to be charted. Using Office2002.

e.g. 2001 2002 2003 2004
........10000 8000 12000 11500

Both ranges appear as data series.

I've tried extensive variations of possibilities in the Chart Wizar
Step 2 Series dialogue box, with no luck.

The only way I can make the years work as labels is to change to tex
in the table, e.g. '2001 '2002 '2003 '2004

But that's not optimal since the data is imported as end of fisca
period dates and formatted as year only. Would have to take anothe
step to convert to text.

Any suggestions?

You do not say what type of chart you are making; but if it is a Line chart
try deleting the heading at the top of the year data before you select
everything to make the chart.
