Hi, I just got a new laptop with windows vista and my wm11 would not play,
said it neded codes, so I got a codecs pack but not the windows recomended
one and now it still will not play but with another message that is saying
perhaps my screen resolution is to high and could need lowering???? still I
have tried this and still I can not get a dvd to play.
Any help would be greatly appreciated... should I just install another
player perhaps?

thanks

your going to have to make sure that you get the proper codecs installed.
Are you trying ot play an actual bought dvd or a burnt one? And if burnt
maybe you burnt it in the Xvid or DivX (Avi) format? I was having the same
problems until I found the proper codecs to download and now I cant find
anything that my laptop won't play through WMP 11. You should try to stick
with WMP 11 if possible as it is the one that came with the computer and is
a microsoft product so it is made to work with windows. Try going to the
following site and download the latest codec pack that you can
find. ----------->

Good luck

The dvd`s I have tried are all shop bought and the only reason I got a codecs
pack fromsomwhere else was because after paying out so much I just did not
want, or could not really afford more outlay, but I guess I should just spend
some money as it is not to much.
Thanks for your help

Hi, Gf3uk.

What make and model laptop? What version of Vista: Home Basic, Ultimate
x64, or somewhere in between? Have you discussed this with the vendor who
sold it to you?
