Code 31 with usb connection - Digital Camera

Hello,

After installing the newest TWAIN driver for my Canon digital camera (A60),
I get the following message after connecting to the USB port:

"The software for this device is now installed, but may not work correctly.
This device is not working properly because windows cannot load the drivers
required for this device (Code 31)"

I've seen other references to this error for various devices. Is there one
general cause for this? Any known fix?
