COA Sticker Placement

Is it acceptable to place the COA sticker inside the case of our
device near the hard drive rather than on the outside?

Our XPe distributor gave a cryptic answer that I don't understand
when all I need to know is yes or no.

I just got one of our devices back for repair where the owner has
removed the COA sticker and our model/serial number sticker.

I have no idea why they would do that. :(

Hello Mike,
When we researched this a long time ago, we were told it had to be placed in
a place that could be seen from the outside of the enclosure (enclosure of
the system). They said it would be acceptable to place it on the back as
long as it could be seen without disassembly.

How accurate this is I'm not sure, but that is what we went with.

Thanks for the reply Richard.

Our product is a device that looks similar to a DVD player and
we have been putting the sticker next to our model/serial number
sticker on the back panel.

I guess if it must be there I'll need to put something in the manual
stating that removal of the sticker voids the OS licence and a new
licence will need to be purchased.

I was hoping it would be ok to put the sticker inside and avoid this.
Most of our customers aren't even aware our product has an operating
system independent of the system software. It's just a machine they
switch on and use.

The problem is that these machines are often hired out. In this case
the owner of the machine says he did not remove the stickers and we
assume a hire customer did it.
