COA sticker damaged

Hello,

I have a laptop and have Windows XP Pro on it. It is OEM and I put the
sticker on the front. I was thinking it would be easier to format and
install if I could see the numbers right on the front of my laptop.
Well...the sticker got torn up from having my wrists hitting it and it got
to be annoying having the jagged edges rub on my wrists. I took the sticker
off but it came off in pieces. Is there somewhere I can e-mail or call to
get a replacement sticker?

Thanks,
Linda

If the computer runs, download EVEREST Home from
www.lavalys.com

It will report a lot of useful data on your computer,
including product keys and software codes.

Print a sticker and put it on the case somewhere your hands
won't destroy it. Also, write it down in your records.

What does OEM stand for? I've had a computer since 95, but never really
thought about it. I recently renamed my computer from OEMCOMP to Marks Comp.
I changed the workgroup from OEMWORKGROUP to Marks Workgroup. Was this the
wrong thing to do lol?

Oh....I have the product key..I took a picture of the sticker before I
removed it completely. I'll go back to the store and see if they can give
me a new one.....I guess it really doesn't matter, I'll be keeping the
computer and I don't think Bill will come to my house and check to see if I
have all my stickers on my 6 computers....5 out of 6 aint bad I guess.

Thanks,
Linda

Thanks! <bg> I thought I was being smart and I wouldn't have to turn the
computer over 6 times when I re-formatted to look at the key or write it
down on a post it note before starting...instead I got a scratched up right
wrist and a Windows XP sticker in bits and pieces. I did tape the bits and
pieces to the book but I know I am supposed to have it on the computer and I
usually am a rule follower.

Actually, the physical sticker is not required. It's not like the sticker
police are going to come and take away your first born.

All you need is the valid 25 digit key. Suggest you write it in a few places
and put it away for safe keeping.

Oh....and here I thought that sticker was the end all and be all that proved
I was legit. Then I'm not going to worry any more and I'll just keep that
shredded sticker in my binder for this computer and won't lose another
nights sleep over my stupid idea!

Thanks, Richard

Man, you really don't want to mess around with the sticker police! They're
an off-shoot of the label police, who keep watch over those labels you
aren't supposed to remove from mattresses.

It's OK to follow the rules, but my personal view is that it's
prudent to have several copies of it, kept in different places.
