Closing IE get popup close message

Whenever I try to close the main IE window with the
JavaScript window.close() command I get the following
YES/NO popup: "The Web page you are viewing is trying to
close the window. Do you want to close the window?" If I
put the window.close() command in a popup or child window
I don't get the mssage. How can I get rid of this popup
message when on the main (first) window?
