Closing a document in word

How can i close a document in word without word itself closing. If I use the
x in the right hand corner of the document, not the programme title bar the
whole programme closes. This is really annoying if I have opened the wrong
document and then want to open another!

Hi Aztec Ant,

This is not normal behavior, which may occur due to a -slghtly- corrupt
Normal.dot. Try renaming (all instances of) Normal.dot (find them with
Windows Explorer, be sure to have Word closed at the time).
