I have a situation where I finish up with several separate workbooks open
simultaneously. At the moment, I close them all one by one, manually.
Is there a quicker way?

Thanks, folks

Hi Paul,

With the Shift key depressed, select Close All on the File Menu.

This option is only available in conjunction with the shift key.

pull the plug on your pc, perhaps :-)...

i am using xl 2002. i have 'windows in taskbar' enabled. whenever
have to close too many workbooks simultaneously, i click on top-righ
'X' icon on the outermost excel window. it works for me, closing al
the excel files at once

Also closes out the session of Excel, which may not be what OP requires.

Norman's suggestion will just close the open files and leave Excel running.

Sorry, folks. My fault. When I said separate workbooks, I meant separate
versions of Excel, each with it's own workbook. That is, not Excel(Book1,
Book2...) but Excel(Book1), Excel(Book2) etc. It happens when you download
pages from the web into Excel. With each save, it starts a new version of
Excel.

Thanks to those who replied so far.
