Cloaking your HTML code

Thanks Rob,
I can take a little bit if jabbing.
It is somewhat embarrassing though; I've used Windows for about 10 years and
overlooked something that was pretty obvious.
Kind of like asking the question: "Is the Pope Catholic?"
(A good time has been had by all. )

Hi Don,

I've seen this - all they do is put the "cloaked" comment then 100 line
breaks at the top of their source so when you view source you see blank.
Scroll down. HTML code is nothing these days, anyone with reasonable
intelligence who can buy a copy of FP or Dreamweaver and a decent book can

write it. What counts is the talent to design an attractive page or the
skill to do something server-side - you can't "steal" skill or talent :-)

Ive seen where the "source" option is greyed out. How do they accomplish
that?

An interesting dicusssion ;-))

As an aside, but I think still related
What does anyone think of The Microsoft Source Encoder.

Does it work?
Is it worh using?

I have downloaded it, but couldn't figure out quite how to use it, so before
pursuing it, I thought I would throw the query open to experts (and others)

Think you mean the Script Encoder

Nice concept but not possible to use in a FP SE web since it is a local command line tool used page by page from a local PC

For more info see

humorously enough it was easier to find a script to "decode" the output than
it was to figure out how to use the thing. :-)

the program name is screnc.exe and it's used by pulling up the c-prompt and
typing in the paths etc.

My memory isn't what it ought to be so what I did when I successfully got it
to work was take a screenshot of the command I entered so I could repeat it
without struggle.

If you like I'll send you my stuff so you can try it yourself.

Thanks Stefan and Chris,

Yes, Stefan, I meant script encoder. I dont use a site with FPSE.
Am I reading you correct in that it doesn't work on the Web, only locally ?
Or can one use it page by page on the local PC (as you stated) and then
upload the result and get it to work, i.e the page displays O.K. but the
code is hidden

BTW, this is only for academc interest, I don't really care about hiding my
code. If others can read it, they may give me feedback - good or otherwise.
And if otherwise, I can refine the code accordingly.

Chris, if you wanted to send some examples, then great, but no hurry
