Clips as icons

I like to use Microsoft clips as icons, but when I save them in the MY ICONS folder and try to use them as icons on the desktop, their background color is always black, even though I changed the color of the background in a photo editing program before saving them as bitmap files in MY ICONS.Is there a way to get that black background color to change? Thanks very much

P.S.I use two Lexmark Photo Editing programs as well as Microsoft Paint and sometimes Microsoft Picture It!

Prior to XP the colour of the upper left pixel becomes transparent when used as an icon. In XP it shows as black. Therefore make the upper left pixel a colour not otherwise being used. The term "microsoft clips" is your own made up word. I presume you are talking about bitmaps (bmp or Paint.Picture).

Thanks, David. But how and where do I change the "left pixel?" Thanks again.
