clipping of export slide images

In PPT 07, I export many slides to JPEG format. I have my export resolution
set (by changing in regedit) to 1200 x 900. This has been working.

Recently I downloaded and installed a fairly major looking 07 update. Also
recently I hooked my Dell XPS 1530 to another device using an S video cable.
Since one or the other of those events, my export slides have been clipped on
the right and bottom edges. I get about 1000 pixels of slide and 200 pixels
of black left to right, and about 750 pixels of slide and 200 pixels of
black top to bottom.

This behavior continues when I switch to a different export format (PNG).
It continues when I change the slide size in design pages. It continues when
I change the export resolution in the registry, except that when I change it
to a slide size of about 640x480, I get the whole slide. This resolution is
way too low for my needs.

Anyone have a thought?

You most likely downloaded Service Pack 1 (SP1) for Office 2007.
It causes this specific problem in PowerPoint.

If you change your Windows resolution to, say 120 dpi from the defaut 96, you'll
be able to get higher rez images w/o cutoff, but on the whole it's badly broken
by SP1.

While we're waiting for a hotfix or SP2, you might try exporting as EMF then
using something like IrfanView or another graphics app to batch-convert the
results to PNG or JPG or whatever format you're after.
