The defaul when I started my first project was 5 seconds. After I completed
project I fewlt that 5 sec was too short. I changed defauklt to 8. How do I
change the clip duration now on each clip from 5 to 8? I've tried looking
ffor where and how to do this to no avail.

The setting only applies to clips added to
the timeline *after* you change the setting.

You can change the duration for each clip
manually. Move your pointer around on the
edge of a clip until you see a double red
arrow. Now drag the double red arrow...
you'll see a tooltip that shows the duration
changing.

Or...just redo the project now that you have
the duration changed to 8 seconds.

If you are only working with still images (pictures), you might consider
using PhotoStory 3. There is a program called TweakPhotoStory that will let
you change the dureation of all clips in you photostory at the same time -
even after they have been placed on the story. You can create your story in
PS3 then import it into WMM if you still want to do more editing.
