I was wondering how to turn off the clicking sound I get
every time I click on webpages. It's not a big thing but
it's driving me nuts... I've looked through the IE options
as well as my Windows Sounds and don't see anything
regarding this. Thanks.

It's in Windows' sounds list, under Windows Explorer, listed (rather unhelpfully!) as "Start
Navigation".

Go to Control Panel | Sounds.
Scroll down to Windows Explorer.
Set Start Navigation and Complete Navigation to None.

Really. I honestly thought it was a good, descriptive name.

Andrew -

Didn't think "Start Navigation" was it but I checked none
and they're gone. THANK YOU! :-)

Thanks as well. Why they thought that task needed a sound
is beyond me... :-)

Kara

I like it.
But I changed it to the Road Runner's MEEP, MEEP.

I think "start navigation" is perhaps less descriptive than say "click web link"... at least it's a
phrase that most people wouldn't use. People tend to talk about clicking links rather than starting
to navigate somewhere :-) Although it does get played when a page pushes you on by itself (which can
be irritating if there are multiple pushes in a second or two), not just when you manually click a
link.

The problem with that is of course it's not just used for links, but navigating folders in Windows
Explorer as well, which is presumably why it's listed under Windows Explorer in the list. I ought to
have said that part was the unhelpful bit - I think most people think of it as "the sound that
happens when you click a link in IE" rather than "the sound that happens when you open folders".
