Clicking on a link in email, computer prompts to choose program

Whenever I click on a web link in an email message, the computer asks which
program to use to open the link, and it makes no difference next time whether
or not I tick the box 'Always use the selected program ...' Can anyone tell
me how to tell the cpmuter to open the link automatically in Explorer?

Use Windows' "Set Program Access and Defaults" should allow you to reset IE
as the browser.
