Clearing Sun Java cache

I have been advised by my virus protection pweb site to clear my Sun Java
deployment cache to eliminate some malware (Java.ByteVerify!exploit).

Will I lose anything of value when I clear this cache? Please make your
answer simple since I don't understand "caches". When I look into the
cache, there are a lot of applets.

Thanks

The web page you supplied was very clear. When I clear out all of those
applets, am I losing some that would be useful to me? I guess I don't
understand why they are there if I can simply clear rhem.

Drew

Why ask why. You will lose nothing, the purpose of deleting those files is
to fix your issue. If you want your issue fixed then delete the cache.

I just want to know what will happen to my machine when I delete this cache.
It's probably frustrating dealing with someone like me who knows so little
about this, but I appreciate your time. I don't want to do something I will
be sorry for. I have always been a "why" person, and I suspect you have
too.

Please answer my question.

Thanks

Drew

Well I don't know how many different ways I or anybody else can say this.
NOTHING will happen if you delete those files. They are bad files. To fix
your problem DELETE the cache.

They are like Temporary Files, used once or twice and then cached, or
saved, for later use. If you need to use the same files again, whatever
requires them will provide them again.

You might want to check out a free crap cleaner that clears out all that
and much more. It's called, of all things, Crap Cleaner and can be
downloaded from http://www.ccleaner.com/ You can configure it to save
cookies so that, for example, if you go to your Yahoo mail web site, it
will still remember you.
