Clearing NetBT having trouble

Guest

I have 3 computers 1 laptop (wireless) and 2 desktops wired to the router. In
my workroups desktop #1 and laptop see each other but they don't see desktop
#2. When checking desktop #2 it doesn't read the other 2 computer either just
itself. When running the repair it calls out a message "cannot clear NetBT".
I have tried PChucks site but that doesn't seem to work unless I'm doing
something wrong. I have pinged the computers ans they seem to be working and
seeing each other through the ping.
Please Help. Thanks.

I can think of a couple possibilities, all related to NetBT, which is a key
element in ability to see computers in My Network Places. Pinging is an IP
activity. NetBT works on top of IP.

What repair are you running, and what's the complete and exact error message?

Error Message: Windows could not finish repairing the proble because the
following action cannot be completed: Clearing NetBT

To repair I right click on the LAN connection and a repair option comes up
in the meau and I click on that.

OK, instead of repairing what may not be broken, let's try some diagnostics.
Look at logs from "browstat status", "ipconfig /all", "net config server", and
"net config workstation", from each computer. Read this article, and linked
articles, and follow instructions precisely (download browstat!):

When checking the ipconfig on he desktop that doesn't show on the network it
shows "connection-specific DNS suffix: domain_not_set.invaild"

ON the laptop and the 2nd destop it doesn't show anything after this.

Would this be a problem?
