'Clear History' Issues

I am having 2 issues with the 'Clear History' function.

1. Sporadically, it does not work. Restarting IE does NOT solve the problem,
but restarting the computer does.

2. When it works, it takes a long time (10+ seconds) to delete the history.
This used to happen almost instantaneously on previous versions of IE.

Any thoughts? Thanks.

Your Temporary Internet Files size is set too large..

Empty your Temporary Internet Files and shrink the size it stores to about
80 to 120MB (seems to be an optimal size for the normal user)

- Open ONE copy of Internet Explorer.
- Select TOOLS -> Internet Options.
- Under the General tab in the "Temporary Internet Files" section,
do the following:
- Click on "Delete Cookies" (click OK)
- Click on "Settings" and change the
"Amount of disk space to use:" to something between 80MB
and 120MB. (Betting it is MUCH larger right now.)
- Click OK.
- Click on "Delete Files" and select to
"Delete all offline contents" (the checkbox) and click
OK. (If you had a LOT, this could take 2-10 minutes or
more.)
- Once it is done, click OK, close Internet Explorer
- Re-open Internet Explorer.

Shenan, Thanks for your reply. Temp Internet File space was 150 MB (not much
over your recommendation), but I reduced it to 80 MB. If problem persists, I
will post a follow-up.

I am running IE6 and Windows XP on both desktop and a laptop. On the laptop,
Clear History works almost instantaneously; while the desktop may take up to
10 seconds to complete. Any ideas?
