Clean System

Is it possible, or I should really ask if a simpleton can do it, to completely restart your computer as if you just purchased it?? I have had my computer at a shop where they got rid of a ton of spyware/adaware ( I didn't even know what those were till now) and I got it back, then voila - I have a lot of the same problems again. My browser keeps getting hijacked to about:blank, constantly getting spyware/adaware even with adaware6, spybot, spysweeper, norton anti-virus, and hijackthis. I thought with all these I might have a fighting chance but it seems like i'm losing. Please, if anyone could assist me to getting my computer back to it's "original" state I would be forever grateful. Also, i'm not sure if its something I've done with the many programs I have but now the "image placeholders" will not show up such as on msn.com. All I get is box w/a little red x. Please, please, please, I'm begging for some help. Thanks to all!! Operating system is home edition of XP on hp with IE 6.

Using a updated antivirus program and a banner / pop up stopper and of
course a firewall you will be as protected as your computer store tech. The
programs that you have mentioned should work well in repairing the problems
that you presently have. Jym

I forgot to mention that I do have a firewall but I think my problem was already on there when I installed it such as the about:blank hijacker. I heard that it hides deep within your registry files and unless you delete it, it can just keep finding its way back in. I constantly run updates for norton, use the adaware, spybot, & spysweeper to no avail. I'm to the point where I don't even want to mess with it unless it's completely clean and I can install everything the second I do my first boot-up. Is there nothing that I can do to start everything from scratch again? This is really important as I am starting a new job working from my home & my computer is essential for work (who can't live w/o their computer?!). Thanks for any advice.

IS there a way to block my computer from EVER connecting to this
particular site? Or is it one of those things that if I add it to the
list in IE, the offending site will have, or always has, other ways of
getting in?

Why isn't this illegal? When will the internet be regulated by the
same protocol as the outside world? or maybe it is...i have my post
office box inundated with crap mail i NEVER requested. it's a pain to
contact these people and they will EVENTUALLY take me off their list,
but they take their sweet time about it (six weeks.)

so maybe it's really not different.

Restart? Erm, you click start > Turn off computer > restart. I fail to see
the problem.

If you think that you have to many pests or you are unable to eliminate them
, back up you important files , ( scan them first) and do a reformat and
reinstall. Jym
