i have xp and i want to erase everything on my 'puter, then reinstall the xp
on a nice clean 'puter

You can try to boot in a command line, then runninf /format c: (or whatever
is the drive name you want to delete) and then putting the xp cd in and
installing it from there.

- Boot the machine with your WinXP CD.
- Allow the disk to be formatted when prompted.
- Install WinXP.

Boot from the CD, hit enter when it tells you to, agree to the EULA, delete
your current partition, create a new partition, choose a format for said
partition (preferably NTFS), and watch XP setup do most of the rest.
