- Disable all firewalls & virus scanners on all machines
for now.
- Try to ping between the different machines.
- Check if "file and printer sharing" is enabled on all
machines

share a printer. All have XP pro and ethernet cards
connected by a 4 computer hub. I have used the network
wizard and I think I have set things up on each of 2
computers so far. (just trying 2 to start with) However,
each computer does not recognize the other and the one
not connected to the printer can't find the printer. I'm
stumped.

No firewalls and no virus scanners. They are not connected to the internet. Both machines were just loaded from scratch with xp pro and only enough stuff to run network was loaded from xp pro.
