classroom management database

I am using the Classroom Management Database. Everything seems to work great,
with one glaring exception. I understand that I can create a class and place
both students and assignments "in" it.

ex: Test class has 2 students, Dick and Jane. They have 2 assignments... 1)
Run and 2) fetch water.

When you look at the student, you can see the class. When you look at the
class, you can see the students and assignments. However, when you look at
the student you can not see the assignments.
I have a weird work-around. If you load the class form, and then click on
the students tab... You see the assignments on top and a blank area on
bottom. You have to click each individual assignment and then click in the
bottom area. After you do this, the students are then listed in the bottom
area. You can now also pull up the student form and see that Dick and Jane
must now run and fetch a pail of water, as Jack and Jill have already
graduated.
I have tested this in both Access 2003 and 2007, and the glitch is in both
of them. This database appears well too complicated to use with data access
pages. I am quite the novice, but I wonder if the glitch would appear if I
loaded this onto a sharepoint server?
My questions are twofold. What can I do to eliminate the glitch in the
database? How hard is it to go from Access to Sharepoint?

Hi Bobby,

Do you know how to create and use queries? You can use a query to put
together in one form or datasheet any fields in a database. If the
relationships in your database are not adequate, you can create relationships
in queries that only exist in the query. You can use the form wizard to put
all the fields you want on one page and Access will automatically create a
query to make it possible.

You can start here http://www.functionx.com/access/Lesson16.htm
and learn how easy queries are in Access.

But then, wouldn't I have to track/enter all students, classes, and
assignments from 1 form? That would make it hard to navigate when I am just
loading assignments or students. I poked around a bit, I think there is a
macro in the template that is running the query already there. I would rather
that query ran with every update of information. However, the query gets it's
information from that particular page that you are on.
Also, Sharepoint seems to have completely replaced data access pages... but
really doesn't work for my needs. I exported to a sharepoint server and now I
can directly modify tables... but lookup fields and a lot of other features
are now gone. What is the best way to collaborate with Access 2007? I have
about 8 people that will be needing to use this database at the same time.
