"Class doesn't support Automation" error. IE Pop-up script box

This error is displayed in an Internet Explorer pop-up display box (I even
got this error when posting to this discussion group!):

Line: 9
Char: 459
Error: Class doesn’t support Automation
Code: 0
URL: http://xxxxxxx this will be the address you have the error on.

OS: MS Windows XP Pro Service Pack 2

I get this pop-up error box on https and http sites but not all of them.
Yahoo!Mail Insert Address pop-up kiosks boxes, Lotus Notes Web browser, and
this discussion group.

I have tried disabling Pop-Up blocker, temporarily disabling Sypware and
Adware functions of Norton Antivirus, and allow pop-ups etc.

Thanks.

In IE go to Tools...Internet Options, Advanced tab, Browsing section - put a
check by "Disable script debugging", and uncheck "Display a notification
about every script error", click Apply, click Okay.

Thanks for the reply. What you suggested doesn't prevent the problem, but
instesd just prevents the script boxes from coming up. The problem still
exists. When I do what you suggested I can still Double-Click on and problem
page with errors, without the script boxes showing, that states: Done but
with Errors and I can get the script dialog boxes as before.

Please give us more details about that last symptom.
E.g. the specific URL which you are only alluding to above.

Also be aware that in general this symptom is just as likely to represent a problem
which can only be fixed by a source change on the host and not something that could
be avoided on a client computer (other than suppress the error notification as you
were shown.)

It can also be a symptom of a corrupted cache, so you should at least try a Ctrl-F5 Refresh
to test if that changes the symptom.

Depending on the technology the script is using you may also need to refresh your XML
support. That's the sort of thing that seeing the script and what is happening at that line
number and character position could tell us.
