Claria Statement from Microsoft

Claria has been receiving a lot of news lately, and so I figured I would
re-post what is going on over here in regards to this. We put the following

It might also be helpful to point out that one source of controversy over
this issue has been rumors in the financial/business press about a possible
Microsoft acquisition of Claria.

These rumors appeared in, for example, the New York Times.

However, newer rumors:

state that whatever possible deal might have been in the works, is dead.

I don't want to start another long thread about the corporate aspect of
these press reports, but I've seen enough confused and mis-information in
these groups that I think it is worth trying to get the rumors (and that's
all these press reports are)--stated correctly.
