CIFS/SMB performance

Hello,

When explorer is used to copy files across the network
I see the following sequence of read requests being issued
by the PC.

Read AndX Request 61440 bytes
Read AndX Request 4096 bytes
... more..

... interspersed with these ...
Read AndX Request 32768 bytes
Read AndX Request 32768 bytes

Other sizes are sometimes seen too: 24576, 8192 Bytes.

The AVERAGE read size is therefore 32k which
limits the throughput to 32k Bytes per Round Trip
Time.

e.g. Across the Atlantic 32kB/0.080s or about
400k Bytes per sec. I have a much higher bandwidth
link that this.

Does anyone know of any way to change the SMB block
size to a larger average value? e.g 48k, or anything.

Thanks.
