choppy video

ever since I downloaded quicktime the first time,i have been having a video
problem.i have tried everything,from video acceleration,to uninstalling quick
time,re-installing wmp 10. when I do a clean start in system utility
configuration,the video
runs smooth,the problem appears to be in start up.I have tried turning items
off in start up registry,but nothing helps.
