Choppy DVD playback

D

I recently replaced my DVD drive with a Sony DVD writer,
and now DVDs are very choppy on playback. In fact, even
looking at photos on a photo cd, the images are all
corrupted. Now, I've tried using the drive under Linux with
no problem, so some XP setting somewhere is screwing things
up. I worked though the DVD trouble shooter to no avail.
DMA is on, not PIO.

Any clues anyone?

Cheers,

Do you need to upgrade or reload the dvd software? Jym
I tried all that. There seems to be a disc reading problem,
but only under win xp. Linux is ok. I really don't want to
have to re-install windows.

I actually just made things worse by updating my graphics
drivers. Now it doesn't play dvds at all. It still doesn't
load photos properly. They get corrupted, but look ok
through my other cd drive. CD audio is fine though (on new
drive).

Cheers,
Dave.
