I am tring to run chkdsk /x on my dell computer. It
operates normal, using windows xp/pro. I went to do a
routine chkdsk /x and it does not run properly and I have
to skip the disk check part.

The error screen that appears, does not stay on the
screen long enough to know what the error is.

Does this problem happen to others?

Please HELP.

Put it in a Command Prompt window like this: "chkdsk /x /f" [less quote
markers]. The "x" is a superfluous switch anyway. It is an instruction to
force the volume (disk) to dismount first and close all file handles. That
never happens that I have seen. What actually happens is that the System
will schedule Check Disk to run at the next system Startup if you agree.
