CHKDSK Starts every time PC is turned on

Every time I turn on my PC chkdsk starts up saying that my partition F:/ is
dirty, Its run several times and I have no idea what started it. I've tried
the instructions in Kellys Korner but had no luck, any ideas?

Hi,

Click start/run and type cmd, then click ok. From the prompt, run 'chkntfs
/d' to clear the dirty bit that causes the disk checker to run.

had a look at this before, followed the links to recover from corrupted
registry but cant do this as I dont have the Windows XP CD, I only have a
Recovery CD I was given with the PC.

You can do the registry recovery operation from the boot floppy set.

Using the WinXP Boot floppy set:

Ah, haven't got a working floppy drive at the moment, never really needed one!
any other ideas?

Borrow a friends CD? You aren't going to be installing from it.

Or get a USB floppy if the BIOS supports booting from one.
