Chicken or the egg?

Do you think it's more that
cutting edge hardware determines software development,
or do the latest greatest programs guide hardware design?

Had a dream the other night.....
I was riding in a pickup truck in the oilfield with a girl that looked a lot like
my last ex wife. We drove around the biggest pumpjack I'd ever seen.
Must have been 3 stories tall.
We ended up on a ranch in some sort of small barn with lots of shower
heads mounted just overhead. She was taking a shower so naturally I started
soaping her up.... my ex was a sociopath bitch but built like a centerfold.
I was soaping those big boobs for a little while then woke up in pain.
I had fallen asleep on the floor of the den with all my clothes on.
Took off my clothes, got in bed, fell asleep, and the dream continued.

My ex and I were now at a house with a party was going on.
We went thru the house to the backyard where there was a steep hill.
There was a small plateau partway up the hill with some scaffolding off to
one side and I needed to go there.
It turned out I had to climb thru snow to get there and then climbed back down.
I went back thru the house and turn thru a different room where the party
was much more elegant, the rooms bigger and longer.
I saw my mother and my father (who died like 5 years ago) and other people.
Whenever I tried to focus on my father, he would fade out starting at the head
and working it's way down. Finally I went to my mother who was babbling
about something.
I asked her, did you ever have a dream, and you knew it was a dream?
She continued babbling.
Mom! Did you ever have a dream and knew it was a dream?
She wound down with her mouth open like she had exceeded the parameters
of her programming.
I looked across the room at my dad who promptly started fading again.
I yelled, no, no wait, stay here. I concentrated on keeping him there.
He faded back in.
I went to him, he looked preoccupied. I gave him the same question,
Did you ever have a dream and you knew it was a dream?
He faded slightly and was mumbling something.
I put my hands on either side of his head, looked him in the eye and asked,
Did you ever have a dream and you knew it was a dream?
He got very intense, looked at me intently, and passionately told me;
Four Thousand (generations of) chickens before a single egg!!
I hugged him and told him I loved him. He told me he loved me too.
I went back outside to climb the hillside but this time it was sand instead
of snow. My ex wife climbed higher than me and I think pushed sand down
on me on purpose. When I got to the little niche in the hillside, whatever was
there had been buried in the sand.

So........
Bearing in mind that Doom 3 is written for an as yet not available 512meg video
card, I would say there is evidence both ways. I suspect they support each other
much as climbing the stairs.... this foot goes a step higher, that foot goes a little
higher.

As for the other, I have it on good authority that the chicken came first.

Nothing that I think, but hardware design is leaps and bounds ahead of
software.

You might not think so if you were trying to do a completely computer
generated movie.

Hehe. Sure.

Genetics tells is it's a 'chicken' if it has the right combination of
genes (what that may be).

Biology tells us that the genes in an egg are a combination from both
parents but not the same combination as either one: it's a 'new'
combination of genes.

Evolution tells us that at some point in time back in history there were
no chickens.

So we are faced with some point in time when there were no chickens and
then later there were.

The confluence of these scientific facts tells us that, what must be is,
two pre-chickens, 'proto-chickens' if you will, combined their genes in an
egg that, by the luck of evolution, had the right combination to be called
a set of chicken genes.

When the egg matured we finally had a chicken.

But the egg with the chicken genes, made by the non-chicken
'proto-chickens', came first.

But, in order to have a real chicken, that chick had to find another mutated
"enter whatever bird here" to breed with........:) I imagine that it
happened over thousands, or more years as the mutated gene was carried down
the line until that finally happened. In essence, you are correct, but u are
easy to mess with David.............:)

Luck of the cluck ;)

If you mean our 'first' chickie; any half breed with the appropriate half
will do but it would certainly help the odds if our first one were a randy
rooster =:O)

Hehe. Probably true. But I fully expected, and was prepared, to be 'messed
