Chess Titans doesn't work anymore, after computer locked up

I was playing a game of Chess Titans, and while playing it, I opened
up an IE window to access the internet. I couldn't connect to the
internet - I had been able to connect a few minutes earlier, but the
usb wireless adapter I'm using is a little flaky. Then I couldn't
close the browser at all, and CTRL-ALT-DEL didn't do anything. Vista
just froze, it wasn't a BSOD, it just froze. I waited several
minutes, while trying CTRL-ALT-DEL, ALT-TAB, CTRL-ESC, unplugging and
reconnecting the usb wireless adapter and the usb keyboard. Vista
never responded. I had to hold down the power button on the computer
for several seconds to turn it off. Then I turned it back on, and I
ran a "chkdsk", and it said "Windows has checked the file system and
found no problems." But when I try to run Chess Titans, nothing
happens. Absolutely nothing happens - no errors, and chess.exe does
not appear in the Task Manager at all. What's going on here?

I just restarted my computer, and Chess Titans is working now. Very
