Checking memory on a USB pen?

R

Richard Blackwood

Anyone recommend a free memory checker program which can be used to check
the memory on a usb
flash/pen drive? I've run scandisk on the usb pen which found no problems
but presumably I need to run a memory checker as it is a memory chip not a
disk that they use (even though they show up as drives on a pc)
Preferably easy to use if poss.
TIA.

Just out of curiosity, why do you think that you need to check it?

They either work or they don't.

Iolo offers demo versions of their System Mechanic Pro 6 software, which
includes a memory checker. Give that a try.

It suddenly said that the disk was unformatted. It wouldnt format with the
disk tools provided on the cd. Would get to a certain % and then freeze. It
format with a normal windows format. This happened twice.

I thought so. I think exposure to a magnetic field causes this.

Are you using Windows 98? If so, you will have problems reformatting
your key. You should be able to format it from 2000 or XP with no
problems, using native tools bundled with the OS.
