Checking Current Hardware Configuration

Hi,
I'm trying to install windows XP on a new build computer. I've set theboot
priority to CD and the installation process starts by saying: "Setup is
inspecting your current hardware configuration..." After this nothing
happens, the screen remains black. Is there something I need to change in the
Bios to get this working or does this indicate a problme with the one or more
of the components. The spec is:

Intel Celeron D Processor 325+
Asus P4RD1-MX Motherboard
512MB RAM
120GB Hard Disk
MSI 6600GT PCI Express Graphics Card
Phillips DVD Rewriter

Thanks in advance for the help...

Regards,

Jon

Hi there Kryten,

Try this:

Is your Hard Drive a Serial ATA Hard drive? If so, make sure that you have
the driver disk in the floppy drive and press F6 at the beginning of the
installation to prompt XP to load the driver to detect the drive.

Also, try updating your motherboard BIOS to the latest available.

Let us know if it works!

Best Regards,

~Will
