Checkboxes in cells

Tim Childs

Hi

When extracting data from a web-based financial system, I copy a table of
data from a web page into Excel with tickboxes in one column, some of which
are checked and some not. These are some sort of image and occupy part of
one cell. How can I convert these images (based on whether checked or not)
into their binary digital equivalent "1" or "0", or alternatively TRUE or
FALSE.

In addition, I found that the checkboxes are not copied when cells are
copied to a new location. Also the cells containing the checkboxes are empty
in terms of cell text editing and I cannot "click onto" the image of the
checkbox when viewing the sheet.

Finally, when using macro record, the checkbox can be checked or unchecked
but the macro records nothing - why is that? Apols about being in "wrong" ng
for that question.

Any help gratefully received

Thanks

Tim

As far as I can tell, you shouldn't HAVE a problem with this. Copy-pasting
columns of check-boxes auto-converts to TRUE/FALSE when moving into Excel
2007 from Access 2007.

However, maybe it doesn't work the same way from the web. Rather than
copy/paste, try Data tab->Get External Data->From the Web
This opens a customizable web query that should import check-box data
properly, although I haven't been able to test it because I can't think of a
web site with check-boxes such as you describe.

If you need more help, please provide an example site.
