"Check Spelling as you type" setting not remembered

Hi,

I'm running Word 2002 on a Win2000 machine and am having trouble with Word not retaining the "checkmark" next to the "Check spelling as you type" in the Spelling & Grammer tab under the "Tools/Options..." setting.

Once it is set, Word will remember it as long as the program stays open. However, when I exit and restart Word, it is unchecked again.

I figure it has something to do with the Normal.dot template but have not had much success so far changing it.

Hi Bridger;
I'm running Word 2002 on a Win2000 machine and am having trouble with Word
not retaining the "checkmark" next to the "Check spelling as you type" in
the Spelling & Grammer tab under the "Tools/Options..." setting.

Have you clicked on the "Default" button in the bottom left corner of that
dialog?
Once it is set, Word will remember it as long as the program stays open.

I figure it has something to do with the Normal.dot template but have not
had much success so far changing it.

Cheers!
