Check Disk WinXP Bug?

I have two relatively new notebooks with WinXP SP-1 on one and WinXP SP-2 on
the other(both Home Editions). All critical updates are current for each SP
version. Every time I run Check Disk after NORMAL shutdowns or restarts, I
get the same Winlogon Event ID 1001 on both with a list of errors fixed under
the category of "Cleaning up minor inconsistencies on the drive". Is this a
bug in XP? Do you see the same thing on yours? Anyone have a fix?

Used to be (And still could be)...
"CHKDSK detected minor inconsistencies" error message in Windows 2000 and in
Windows NT

There is also a possibility that despite your service pack being up to date
(well - on one of them) that your drivers for the hardware is severely
lacking. You should check with the manufacturer for each component for
updated drivers - particularly for motherboard chipset/controller drivers.

Thanks Shenan. Your reference to KB831374 is precisely what I see in my error
summary. My drivers are up-to-date. I think it's interesting (and
disappointing) that when I tried to search the Microsoft WinXP Knowledge Base
with just a fragment of my error message above, it found no references. But
with Google as you suggested, the entire exact phrase match finds KB831374. I
think Microsoft should sub-contract Google for their internal search engine.
KB831374 notes even SP-2 may not fix this bug, as in my case, and there is no
other hotfix as of yet for WindowsXP as I read this KB article.

I have not encountered this problem before.

Just a thought. Partition so that each partition has less than 4,194,303
files.
